One of the largest additions was a corn maze for families to traverse through and use a map, their wits and trial and error to make their way toward the exit. Upon creating the maze, Cooley said he and his family found out that the world record was 25 acres, so they strived to make one larger.

That record was bested seven years later at 63 acres, the same acreage it sits at today. The layout of the maze changes every year, so even those who have gone through it in the past will have a new experience. Part of the design each year includes a special insignia that is part of the route, which honors different groups and organizations.
