Please try again later! Posted April 11, Posted April 16, Sillium Posted April 26, Posted April 26, And back to working again :-D On the weekend I was at a family party and played around with the app. Posted May 3, I have a couple of issues that are really making it difficult to like this app, much as I want to: - As described by delleps, the initial location on starting the app is woefully inaccurate, making the possibility of looking for nearby caches next to impossible. Posted May 5, Please prove me wrong, or direct me to the refund.
Posted May 6, Bad move!! All i get when trying to tap on the location map is the following messages Error Processing your Query. Connection to server failed. It has connected once but that was it, i have tried re-installs and rebooting, to no avail. Please could you let me know how to fix or point me to the way of a refund. Posted May 7, Posted May 12, Which is not true Can you please help? Posted May 20, Posted May 21, Posted May 27, Posted May 28, Posted May 30, Posted June 23, Posted June 24, Posted June 27, Working fine here, just having some understanding issues with the trackables handling.
What I would like to see, is a automatically orientating map and a bit faster compass. Otherwise keep up the good work. I am using it regularly with success. Ross Posted June 29, Posted June 29, Thank you for your sharing Posted July 2, We hope you enjoy the new version and look forward to releasing a much quicker update next time. Please visit our Feedback site if you have any ideas for future feature enhancements. Sometimes it can take a short time to appear in Marketplace.
According to our control panel the app is published so it shouldn't be long now. I'm still showing V 2.
The last app I updated, it showed in Marketplace in about 4 hours, but it would not update on my phone until the next day, and it was MY App!
That's a Microsoft issue. Well, the good news is that 2. Only problem is that after I click update I get the messgage 'There is a problem completing your request. Try again later. Error code:ca7d4'. Not sure if it's my phone or the marketplace. I'll keep trying. Now I've shafted myself. References online indicated the app should be uninstalled and reinstalled.
Now I have NO geocaching app, and I can't get it to install. Error is now I've finally got it although my live tiles are having a problem so I didn't see there was an update available.
I saw 2. All I need now is a little time to use it and see how it goes but first impression - the initial screen comes up much more quickly with no server errors , clicking on it returns the closest caches and my previous finds are hidden as per my settings. Also, the problem with displaying metric measurements is fixed at least on that screen. All in all, a good start! I've just come back from looking for a cache I've found before - not a problem and everything responded quickly and not a server error in sight!
As mentioned above, the compass still leaves a bit to be desired bit it wasn't too far off certainly close enough to get me in the right general area - this really does need to be fixed to make this a really useful app; other apps with a compass built in are far more accurate so it doesn't appear to be a platform issue.
So far so good I just updated to version 2. Sometimes I use my phone with my handheld GPS and transfer the coordinates manually from the phone into the GPS because the GPS is more accurate , but now the coordinates are no longer available.
Is there any way I can get the coordinates to display or go back to the previous version? EDIT: I think this is a good decision for the users because normaly you are only interested in the distance and not in the coordinates. Definitely faster on the search and maps. Saved caches worked great! Still see my own cache on the initial search results, but it removed it from the saved cache.
Can't wait to get it out and about tomorrow. On the phone application I only get 7 offered, independent if I look in my inventory or if I write a log and want to drop one of them. Also the stars are not all visible. If for D all 5 stars are displayed there is only space for 4 stars in T. Due to the fact that the app still does not rotate you can't see if the rating is 4 or 5 stars.
Thank you, Sueffel and travelling - I was able to reproduce both of those issues and have entered them into our internal queue for investigation. This is due to an issue with the API in which both trackables in your inventory and in your collection are being returned. The app is then hitting the maximum number of trackables that can be displayed before filtering out the items in your collection, leaving only a select few in your inventory available.
We are aware of this issue and are working on a fix. We've just moved from Windows 6. We are used to the excellent and free Gczii so were quite disappointed by this paid for app. We imported our nearest caches in a PQ for any offline needs. However, when we open the offline cache file in our backpack it only allows us to see 30 of the caches. Is this a bug or are we doing something wrong? In terms or development requests the feedback site won't take our requests.
I don't really think this is a good excuse - if policies and processes mean it takes 5 months to release an update, then the policies and processes need improving. If a big company can't work as efficiently as a small company, then the big company should act as smaller companies.
You probably saw the recent blog post by Eric Hautala. He's the new guy, and his job is delivering updates. Eric's appointment looks like acknowledgement that Microsoft know they have work to do in this area, so we'll have to see how things evolve. I raised the issue of nobody knowing what's in NoDo other than the few features that have been announced.
Brandon agreed that some sort of release notes should definitely be included and are, for many of the development products and said he'd look into it. Apple provide release notes for all of their updates, though I'd prefer to see Microsoft go one step further and publish them before the update.
If Microsoft need inspiration, they should take a look at how Blizzard manage releases for World of Warcraft; Patch notes are posted and updated constantly before launch, and go into great detail. I'd love to see this kind of transparency from Microsoft. I think I've covered the main points we discussed.
The conversation was positive, but it was only talk. It'll take time to see whether Microsoft is really moving forwards. If I receive any additional info or responses from Brandon or Ben, I'll post about them.
