It displays deep blacks thanks to its high contrast ratio, and the full-array local dimming feature does a decent job at improving the contrast in dark scenes. Visibility in a bright room isn't an issue, either, as it has excellent reflection handling and great peak brightness in SDR, meaning glare won't be a problem.
Sadly, it has just okay peak brightness in HDR, so bright highlights in the latest HDR content don't stand out as well as they should. It also has relatively narrow viewing angles, so it's not ideal for a wide seating arrangement or if you like to move around with the TV on. If these limitations don't bother you, it's one of the best smart TVs we've tested. It has worse peak brightness than the Hisense U6G and worse reflection handling, meaning it's not as good a choice for well-lit rooms.
It comes with a basic, small remote, but sadly it doesn't have a mic for voice control. You can use the app on your phone if you want the voice control, though. The S is a model that's still available in , and it delivers good picture quality thanks to its high contrast and decent local dimming, but the low HDR peak brightness may be disappointing to some. If you want the best smart TV and you're on a budget, the Hisense is versatile and delivers great picture quality, but if you want something with Roku instead, then check out the TCL.
